Maths

At Our Lady’s our teaching follows the New National Curriculum 2014. Alongside this, we have recently introduced the “Maths Mastery” approach to teaching and learning mathematical skills.

The National Curriculum for mathematics aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics
  • reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry
  • can solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of routine and non-routine problems with increasing sophistication

By developing a mastery approach to teaching, pupils are given increased opportunities to become fluent, reason and solve problems using a range of apparatus and a variation of tasks.

Below you will see some of the equipment we use in lessons.
