What are Family Hubs?

Family Hubs support children and young people from birth until they reach the age of 19 (or up to 25 for young people with special educational needs and disabilities). They bring council, health and community services together so families can access the right support at the right time.

Family Hubs will act as a ‘one-stop shop’ to offer guidance and advice on a range of circumstances including, infant feeding, mental health support, health visits and parenting classes.

Stoke-on-Trent Family Hubs will provide a mix of physical and virtual spaces, as well as outreach, where families can easily access non-judgmental support for the challenges they may be facing.

Where can I find a Family Hub?

Stoke-on-Trent Family Hubs will deliver services in a variety of ways and at a range of locations. The City Council have begun by expanding some of their existing children’s centres into Family Hubs. The Westfield site Buccleuch Rd, Stoke-on-Trent ST3 4RF was developed into the first Family Hub pilot site. Stoke-on-Trent City Council have recently launched the Bentilee Family Hub at 149 Dawlish Dr, Stoke-on-Trent ST2 0HP.

Family Hubs are not about creating new buildings but focus on bringing services together and changing the way family help and support are delivered locally. In practice, this will be a mix of using existing children’s centres and other community spaces. Family Hub services will also be delivered virtually.
